Our story

A small farm with a lot of tiny employees.

Dirt Noods began with a simple idea: composting should not feel complicated, dirty or old-fashioned. We raise healthy compost worms and pack every order by hand on the Mornington Peninsula.

Our goal is to make food-waste reduction easy, accessible and enjoyable for everyday households. We believe small actions matter.

Fed using suitable organic scraps from local cafés, wineries & community partners

Every birth certificate names the "local hero" who helped raise your worms

Every banana peel diverted from landfill is just the beginning.

How it works.

Tiny compost team. Big garden energy.

Four simple steps where you let your new worms do the rest — and honestly, they're overqualified for the job.

Frequently Asked Worms.

Are they alive?

Very. Please bring them inside promptly when they arrive.

Do they bite?

No. Emotionally, however, they may judge you for wasting a banana peel.

Where should I put them?

In a suitable worm farm, composting system or prepared worm habitat with shade, moisture and airflow.

Can I leave the parcel outside?

No. Live worms should not be left in direct sunlight, extreme heat or a hot letterbox.

What do they eat?

Suitable fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds and other worm-friendly organic material. Avoid chilli, onions and anything citrus!

What do I do with the packaging?

Yes. Suitable cardboard and paper components can be cut down and used as worm bedding.
